Be In The Know: Multifamily Conferences to Attend This Year

Reading Time: 3 minutes

With February unfolding fast, it is a perfect time to look at the year ahead and make a commitment for personal and professional growth. Multifamily is a dynamic industry that responds quickly to new technology and has to grow to accommodate the needs of new residents. Each year, professionals in multifamily marketing, property management, web design, social media, search marketing and more, gather at conferences across the nation to network, mingle, and talk shop about the latest and greatest in multifamily marketing.

While 2016 offers a number of different conferences and conventions for the multifamily industry, we’ve outlined four of the key conferences for professional development and personal growth this year that we’re looking forward to here at Lincoln Property Company.

NAA STUDENT HOUSING CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION

The National Apartment Association (NAA) hosts the Student Housing Conference and Exposition early next week in Chicago, IL. This convention runs for two days in the Windy City, and will include some of the brightest minds that specialize in off-campus student housing. Network and strategize for the coming year and beyond with over 1,000 industry peers covering a variety of different topics.

The educational tracks cover a broad range of specific issues that face the multifamily industry today: From marketing topics like how to develop personas for your off-campus residents, online reputation management, and email marketing, to management sessions on hiring, turning units, reducing utility expenses, and more. APARTMENT INTERNET MARKETING

Apartment Internet Marketing has been hosting an annual conference to discuss trends in multifamily marketing since 2005. This year the conference occurs May 2-4, 2016 in Huntington Beach, CA.

The conference focuses primarily on how digital marketing continues to shift and evolve for the multifamily industry. Educational seminars will include topics on Internet marketing, advertising, branding, mobile platforms, online leasing and lead tracking, resident retention, and social media. On top of the marketing tracks, the sessions at AIM also discuss evolutions in technology for things like common CRMs, web technology and applications, and in-home technology to keep marketing managers on the cutting edge of multifamily marketing. NAA

Shortly after AIM, the National Apartment Association’s annual education conference rolls into San Francisco at the Moscone Convention Center on June 15-18. NAA offers an incredible conference with a wide range of exhibitors and sponsors and an incredibly diverse panel of educational options. The conference will feature more than 9,200 apartment housing industry professionals in an environment that encourages collaboration, discussion, and education. In addition, 65 education sessions will cover a broad range of topics that confront everyday issues in the multifamily industry from well-known speakers. This year, notable keynote speakers include former NFL Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl Champion Michael Strahan, former CEO of Netflix Marc Randolph, and Amy Curtis-McIntyre, former CMO of Airbnb.

NATIONAL MULTIFAMILY HOUSING COUNCIL OPTECH CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION

The National Multifamily Housing Council OpTech Conference and Exposition will be held in Dallas, TX at the Hilton Anatole on November 14-16, 2016. With education sessions still yet to be announced, the conference offers an excellent opportunity to gain professional development from peers in the multifamily industry. This conference offers an educational and networking environment with roundtables, workshops, and speakers that cover everything from marketing, to property and revenue management. In addition to a highly collaborative education track, the OpTech conference has an exhibition hall with the latest in products, services, and technology for the multifamily space.  For more information on NHMC’s OpTech conference in Dallas, visit their site here.
