The spooky season is just around the corner, so now is the time to start gathering pumpkins, lighting candles, and setting the scary mood. While we love our animated Jack-o’-lanterns, cobwebs, and monster figurines, this year we’d like to put a refined spin on this season’s decor.
Here are a few elements that are both spooky and stylish.
Get Artsy
This season, swap out your standard art pieces for selections that are hair-raising, spine-chilling, and stylish. There are a number of fantastic pieces on Etsy, that when placed in a frame, will complement your interiors as well as set a spooktacular mood. For the Adams Family fans out there, this Wednesday Adams design etched onto wood would look fitting in a rustic setting. For the proud owners of a gallery wall, this skull illustration would be a fantastic addition to your collection.
Black Out Your Candles
Make your ambiance as dark as night and adorn your space with black candles. Not only are they reminiscent of a spooky scene, but in the right setting, they’re undeniably chic. Feeling crafty? You can make your own easily. Melt beeswax over the stove, add your favorite essential oils as well as this black dye from CandleScience. Then, place wicks with adhesives at the bottom of old candle containers. Then, pour the melted wax in. Once the wax dries, snip off the end of the wick leaving about a half-inch. Finally, light and enjoy over a seance or movie night—whichever you prefer.
Upgrade Your Jack-O-Lantern
Give your pumpkins a makeover this season by applying a fresh coat of paint. We love a matte black, gold, or silver finish for an elegant seasonal feel. For the artists out there, we challenge you to copy one of these designs from Hallmark’s Think.Make.Share blog. If you’re not comfortable with a paintbrush, get in the host mindest and transform a large gourd into a wine chiller. Simply scoop out the inside, fill it with ice, and nestle a bottle of rosé amongst the cubes. Cheers!
