As businesses begin to reopen and the public ventures back outside, it’s important to remain mindful to prevent the spread. Therefore, the team at Lincoln has compiled a guide for being smart and safe in the months ahead!

Wash Those Hands!

To kill harmful bacteria and prevent the spread, washing your hands is imperative. While you should do it as often as possible, the most important instances are after you have visited a public place or following a sneeze or cough. When washing, be sure to scrub for at least 20 seconds, and don’t forget to reach your forearms and between your fingers. If it helps, think of the chorus of a catchy tune and sing while scrubbing to completion.

Avoid Contact

While many establishments may be open, it’s important to create a new sense of normal when inside. Be sure to maintain six feet of distance between people, wear a mask, and avoid touching surfaces. When shopping, try not to touch objects unless you are purchasing them. Handshaking may have been a formality in the past, but now is the time to perfect a socially distant greeting!

Disinfect, Disinfect, Disinfect!

Maintaining the habit of disinfecting surfaces is key to preventing the spread. Be sure to prioritize areas that are often touched such as doorknobs, light switches, and cabinet handles. An easy way to remember is by making it a part of your morning routine. While listening to your a.m. podcast or brewing coffee, take 10 minutes to disinfect your apartment and then start your day with a sense of assurance.

Monitor Your Health

Now more than ever, it’s important to monitor your health and watch for symptoms. If you’re experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or any other symptoms listed by the CDC, contact your doctor and avoid going out into public.
