Atlanta, Georgia is known for many things. It’s the home of the Braves, of course, as well as Falcons football. In 1939, Gone with the Wind would put on a 3-day premiere that drew over a million people to the city. Back in 1996, it hosted the centennial summer Olympics. But one thing any local will tell you is Atlanta is a city that knows how to have a good time. If you’re there when the sun goes down, make sure you check out at least one of the following staples of Atlanta nightlife.

Blind Willie’s in Virginia Highland
If you like blues, Atlanta will not leave your eardrums starved. One of the best locales in the city for that music is Blind Willie’s. Since 1986, the bar has hosted some of the most talented blues musicians in the entire country. Maybe that’s why the kitchen there serves food from some of the best blues cities in the nation too (i.e. Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, etc.).

Cosmo/Lava in Midtown Atlanta
For those of you who demand a more vibrant scene, Cosmo/Lava will certainly please. This is one of those clubs where people go to be seen, and they certainly dress the part. Inside, there are actually 2 clubs, with 3 levels and 5 different bars. Fortunately, the venue doesn’t lack dance floor space. As Cosmo/Lava certainly attracts a crowd, you might want to opt for VIP status, which is some of the best in the city. Pay cover once to enjoy two clubs, and when you need air, go outside to the patio and take in Atlanta’s gorgeous skyline.

Divan Restaurant & Hookah Lounge in Buckhead
Boasting four out of five stars on Yelp with 125 reviews, you can bet this Buckhead restaurant is sure to amaze and delight. If you’re looking for an atypical dinner and night on the town, Divan is the place for you. Offering a combination of amazing food, tempting cocktails, and the unique experience of Hookah, patrons can’t go wrong! Featuring authentic Mediterranean dishes with Persian influences, Divan is a cultural experience unlike any other in the Atlanta area.

Havana Club in Buckhead
As you might imagine, Havana Club is steeped deep in Cuban influence. But the club features a number of rooms, none of which are remotely the same. You might enjoy the Main Room, for example, amongst plush sofas and a generous VIP area. Walk over to the Studio, and you’ll find plenty of dancing going on. Over at the Stage, you can pick your favorite cigar and sit down at a private cabana. Each room features its own DJ, so you’re bound to find the music you like. With so much to take in, don’t forget to look up and enjoy Club Havana’s acrobatic offerings.

Opera Nightclub in Midtown Atlanta
Many Atlanta natives consider Opera Nightclub to be the absolute best in town. Of course, with that kind of reputation, you can’t expect to just walk in. When you go to Opera, dress to impress, but wear comfortable shoes because you’ll probably be in line for a while. That said, once inside, you’ll be glad you waited. Opera Nightclub is full of VIP seating, dance floor space, and some of the best DJs, not just in the city, but in the entire world.

If you’re in need of sleep, Atlanta probably isn’t the city for you. In fact, Georgia’s capitol might have a serious claim to America’s nightlife throne. No matter how you like to spend your time away from the sun, Atlanta has options that won’t disappoint. That said, we would be remiss not to mention some of Atlanta’s best apartment homes to spend those daylight hours waiting for the nightlife excitement to begin.
