With a month of winter left, now is the time to start daydreaming about fresh scents, sunshine, and the warmth of a new season. Spring is reflective of a new start, as flowers bloom so can your surroundings, which is why we’re kickstarting our latest campaign, #LPCSpringClean.
While we haven’t yet hit April yet, there’s no time like the present to start prepping for your annual spring cleaning spree. Kickstarting your responsibilities early will save you stress in the future so you can sweep, mop, and dust with ease.
Here’s where you can get started:
Set Objectives
While spring cleaning is considered a massive sweep of your home, it can also be aligned with your lifestyle objectives. For example, do you want to start hosting dinner parties? Make a plan to rethink your dining area to make it more welcoming for guests. As you clean and organize, you’ll find extra motivation as you imagine laughs and delicious smells in your space. Tidy Up Like Marie Kondo
Marie Kondo, a Japanese lifestyle consultant, has been making waves in recent years with her four books and recent Netflix series. Kondo’s mission is to declutter and minimize the home by getting rid of items that don’t “spark joy” within you. With her method, the focus is on objects, rather than rooms, in this particular order:
- Clothes
- Books
- Papers
- Komono (miscellaneous)
- Sentimental items
By getting rid of extra stuff, Marie Kondo-style, it will be way easier to get into those nooks and crannies and truly envision the apartment of
Organize Your Supplies
When the time comes to deep clean, it’s vital to set yourself up for success with all the necessary supplies. Start off by emptying everything out of your cabinets and assess your inventory. Many of us are the proud owners of three different sanitizers, two bottles of glass cleaner, and a bucket of bleach from 2007. If you notice clutter like this, first consolidate products that are the same. If you have varying brands of the same types of product, organize your space so that bottles with the least amount of cleaner are in the front to ensure you use them first. Discard any old sponges or rags that are collecting dust, and be sure to make a list of what you have so you know what belongs on the shopping list.
